Our Beginnings
Director / Cinematographer
BarberGreen Digital was formed in 2018 by filmmaker and cinema aficionado Gene Dolders. Hailing from Liverpool, Gene got his start in the industry at the turn of the century as a freelance cameraman in the corporate sector. Gene spent several years honing his craft on commercial shoots in the US, Europe and the Middle East, before a move to the Far East followed in 2006. For the next decade, he lived and worked in various cities such as Daegu, Guangzhou, Macau and Manila, soaking up the different flavours of cinema on offer while making contacts with, and learning from, people in the business.
In 2018 Gene decided to focus on what was most important to him; carving out a niche as a filmmaker, while also utilising his skills and experience to help give talented young artists across the north-west England a flying start in the creative industries. Thus Barber Green Digital was formed. The company has employed a total of 13 people in various roles, in collaboration with the government’s Kickstart Scheme.
